Tom Kilburn and Lady Williams (F.C.'s widow) press a button to formally "Switch On" the Replica Baby over the Satellite Link. The Baby responds immediately with a pattern of "1"s spelling out
which is visible (at least to the audience!) on the screen (i.e. where Chris Burton can be seen on the previous picture).HELLO

Tom's "Personal Perspective" was scheduled to finish before the satellite
link up for "The Replica Switch-On". But satellite timing is unforgiving, and
the Event started a few minutes late anyway. Tom before the event would have
been totally happy to only speak for a few minutes, but in the event he warmed
to his task and the Presenter, Beverley Ashworth, gracefully interrupted him
and then returned to him afterwards!
